Born in a small rural town in southwestern Wisconsin, the little town of Richland Center, I am the older of two children born to my parents and traveling buddies Robert and Judith Jewett. I was raised just a few miles north of Chicago until the age of eighteen when my family moved to Cleveland, Tennessee for my dad to attend what is now Lee University. At that time, I met and married the man that has been by my side now for thirty-nine years, Edward Houston Gilbert JR. My husband and I have four amazing children; Meagan Elizabeth, Mandy Nichole, Dustin Edward, and Anthony Robert who are now adults and have families of their own. We are blessed with ten grandchildren and a new great granddaughter.
Being an entrepreneur, owner of a successful medical practice, and nurse practitioner leaves me often seeking rest and time to relax. The need to get away and clear my mind from the stresses of care-giving created the desire to go out into nature. I spend time outdoors to seek a refreshing that can only come from separating oneself from the modern world and being alone with God. There is no better place than being in nature, the place of God’s creation.
Photography has always been an area of interest for me, but it really blossomed from the need and desire to connect with nature. I found myself encountering things that I did not know I would enjoy. Things like dressing in camouflage and carrying my equipment into the woods. Things like the adrenaline rush of waiting to see if that bear is just over the next hill or in a day den that has been visited multiple times because of finding fresh bear scat. Things like the wonder of standing at the Snake River and the grandeur of the Grand Tetons. There are so many wonderful and exciting experiences that I have written about in my books, which are available for purchase.
I earnestly love where I am at in this present moment of my life. I have been called to be a servant to those in need of and entrusted me with their medical care. Because of this enormous responsibility, God has given me the desires of my heart in experiencing His creation and spending countless intimate hours in His presence as He reveals His character to me.
My husband and I have traveled with my parents many long miles down these roads in the United States and we feel tremendously blessed to continue experiencing new adventures as God opens the doors.
